Selection Criteria and Executive Resumes
Addressing Selection Criteria can be challenging even for top executives. Too many executives try to trade on their reputation while overlooking the vital necessity for an employer to align skills, knowledge, abilities, and track record with both their organization's strategic goals and existing or aspirational culture.
Qualitative aspects of selection criteria
It is, of course, up to each employer to define the scope and type of questions posed, which are becoming increasingly qualitative in nature. If I am to advise you in writing your responses, I need to
know who you are. Ideally, I will have crafted your Resume, as I will then know how to position you in a specific job application. I can provide selection criteria consulting as a stand-alone service, but it will necessitate a review of your Resume to ensure the entire application is consistent.
Always study the Job Description
In some circumstances, there is no need to expressly address selection criteria; however, this does not mean that your application should not take into account what may be gleaned from the job description.
In instances where addressing the selection criteria is complex, you will realize that I will need to see the employer's requirements as well as your current Resume or CV before I can determine the scope of the work required.
It's not unusual for an employer to demand detailed answers to five or six questions, and you'll appreciate that this takes time and expertise.
